I know you’re all just excited as we are to hear that there is going to be a remake of the 1980’s cartoon Jem. The live action reinvention of the  Hasbro classic cartoon Jem and the Holograms is getting the authentic ’80s touch after adding Molly Ringwald and Juliette Lewis to the cast.

While their exact roles have not been revealed, the two iconic actresses were quick to share their joy about the project on  social media.“On set with @,” Ringwald tweeted with a photo of her and her co-star. Meanwhile, Lewis retweeted director Jon M. Chu’s post which read, “So honored 2 have the AMAZINGLY TALENTED & INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUl @ joining our cast!! 🙂 :).”

Ringwald is known for starring roles in popular ’80s teen films Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, and Lewis fronted the rock band Juliette and the Licks for years before moving on to pursue a solo career in acting.

Lewis and Ringwald  join Nashville actress Aubrey Peeples, who will take on the role of Jem for her first major film role. Disney star, Stefanie Scott, will play Jem’s sister Kimber, Pretty Little Liars‘, Aurora Perrineau, will play the Holograms’ Shana and The Fosters‘, Hayley Kiyoko, has joined the ensemble as Aja.

Ryan Landels wrote the script, which will focus  around an orphaned teenager who becomes an online recording sensation. She and her sisters embark on a music-themed scavenger hunt across Los Angeles in order to uncover a final message that was left by Jem’s father.
