SHK Editor-in-Chief Rachel Eleanor Sutton (notoriously clad in black) shares her latest editor’s picks, and this time, it’s all about color.

Recently, a fellow SHKer (Romy) and I were talking shit chatting about a certain fashion personality that’s always popping up on the scene. “She doesn’t even have good style,” Romy said. “She just always wears black.” Of course, I was like, “Yeah totally.” *hair flip. But then I started thinking… Wait. I always wear black.

So in an effort to branch out, I’ve decided to curate my editor’s picks around the idea of paying more attention to colors (shop my amazing finds above). Also, I ask that you too consider how the colors you choose to surround yourself with reflect meaning. I personally have no idea, but I did create this cute infograph as a clue for how our fashion choices reflect WTF we might be feeling — a bit of a “mood ring wardrobe,” if you will.

… And, since I always enjoy motivating quotes (who doesn’t, right?) I’ve also included a few words of choice to brighten your mood.

“You think you’re looking at things all the time, but you’re not looking at things, you’re looking at what your brain is interpreting through light and color. And who knows what everybody else sees?” — Fiona Apple

“In visual perception a color is almost never seen as it really is – as it physically is. This fact makes color the most relative medium in art.” — Josef Albers

Until next time,
