Finding your perfect yoga studio.

Who would have thought centering the body and mind could require such stressful pre-planning? There are so many important things to consider when looking to find the perfect yoga studio that meets all your needs.

We’ve all signed up for the unlimited six months of yoga that nearly wiped out our bank account or alternatively taken the free courses that pack so many people in together that you can practically reach out and give your neighbor a foot massage during certain stretches. It’s also important to make sure that your fellow students do not mistake the breathing exercises for acting classes or that instructors do not play their high-school music playlist throughout the session or slightly man-handle you during the process.

With so too many variations of yoga classes and studios to keep up with these days, it’s important to filter through the information and find the right studio for you to stretch in unison with like-minded people. Luckily, we’ve turned pro, Jamie Walker, to answer the hard questions and have come up with a list of some of the crucial things to consider when picking out the right yoga studio.

Jamie is a personal trainer, Yoga Instructor and fitness class connoisseur. She founded SweatGuru, an online fitness marketplace that allows consumers to discover and manage new fitness classes, and instructors/studios to increase their visibility and organization.

Comfortable Space

Yoga 101 Comfortable Space

Remember, not all space is created equal! It’s important to find a space where you can feel comfortable and relax; the benefits of yoga are the greatest when you can clear your mind of other outside distractions. Things to avoid: visible dirt, clutter, poorly-lit/ventilated space. Find somewhere that speaks to you!
