The perfect brandy liquor for all you cocktail nuts out there.

We’ve decided to take a moment to opine on something that is dear to us: drinking awesome cocktails. While it does matter where we decide to do it, the atmosphere, how the music is at the place we pick, the people we choose to party with… What’s just as important is how our drinks taste and how we feel at 2 a.m. We’ve found a little gem of a brandy that has a background in both Peru and Chili: Pisco Portón. (Actually, the Peruvians and Chileans have been in a sort of scuffle over where the word “pisco” comes from, the name of a town in Peru, or a word of Quechua origin meaning bird.) But, we sort of, kind of don’t care because this grapey blend has the perfect amount of fruitiness and is super smooth. It’s also 86 proof, so don’t guzzle too quickly. Plus, there’s this perfect little recipe to try out at home or ask for at your favorite local joint.

The Cocktail: Portonero

The Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Pisco Portón
  • 1 tsp. fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp. simple syrup
  • 1 slice of fresh ginger
  • 1 dash of Angostura™ bitters
  • Top off with ginger ale
  • Fresh lime wedge

Mix it up! Pour Pisco Portón, lime juice, simple syrup, ginger and bitters into a tall glass with ice. Top off with ginger ale. Don’t forget to make it pretty- garnish with a lime wedge. For other delicious cocktails visit Picso Portón site! — Emily Marucci
